This weekend, I attended the Nikon Photography Seminar. When I registered last month, I was psyched. However, the seminar turned out to be a disappointment.
Upon registering, I was given the extensive notes for the seminar, which is two photographers taking turns explaining the notes via a PowerPoint presentation. If you have the notes, you have their presentation, minus their try-to-be-witty off-the-cuff commentary.
I realized that almost all of the material in the presentations consisted of concepts that I had already learned through trial and error. The concepts were good, but explanations of the concepts became complicated. I just want to know how to make something work. I don't need to know the scientific mumbo-jumbo behind why it works.
Later on, I was thinking that the seminar was a mistake, and I happened to read this quotation:
“The biggest mistake you can make is doing nothing because you are scared to make a mistake.”
