When I performed at Barnes & Noble in NYC, I was chatting with the coordinator, and he told me this story as we were waiting for the event to start.
Conductor Zubin Mehta was doing an event at Barnes & Noble, and before the event, he went off to use the restroom. Many minutes went by, and Zubin had not returned.
Finally, the coordinator at Barnes & Noble went to look for him and found Zubin browsing through books in one of the aisles.
He gently said, "Mr. Mehta, we're ready to start now."
Zubin glanced up at him and said, "Never leave me alone in a bookstore."
